Victim Services of Haldimand Norfolk and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation is committed to providing culturally safe, respectful, and trauma-informed support to Indigenous individuals, families, and communities. We recognize the ongoing impacts of colonialism, systemic harm, and intergenerational trauma, and we strive to offer services that honour Indigenous identities, traditions, and ways of healing.

Our approach is grounded in respect, choice, and collaboration. We understand that each person’s lived experience is unique, and we work alongside individuals to provide support that aligns with their needs, values, and cultural preferences.


Culturally Safe Emotional Support

  • Non-judgmental, compassionate support that respects identity and lived experience

  • Trauma-informed care grounded in cultural awareness

  • Referrals to Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and traditional healing supports (where available)

Crisis Response & Immediate Support

  • 24/7 crisis response in partnership with police and emergency services

  • On-scene emotional and practical support during traumatic incidents

  • Short-term follow-up care to ensure safety and stability

Safety Planning

  • Personalized safety planning for individuals and families

  • Consideration of cultural, community, and geographic factors

  • Support in identifying safe supports within family or community networks

System Navigation & Advocacy

  • Guidance through police, court, and victim services processes

  • Information about rights, options, and available programs

  • Advocacy and accompaniment during appointments or proceedings (when available)

Referrals & Community Connections

  • Connections to Indigenous-specific services and supports

  • Referrals to health care, housing, counselling, and social services

  • Support accessing culturally relevant programs and community resources


Our Commitment

We are committed to building strong relationships with Indigenous communities, including the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, and to working in partnership with local organizations to ensure services are responsive, inclusive, and culturally meaningful.

We respect your right to make your own choices. You do not have to report to police to receive our support, and all services are confidential.
